Our overall recommendation

Our overall ranking is an editorial recommendation for ordinary zone progression, based on the menu reference and player cases below—not measured win rates or a verified current-patch power ranking. Start by checking the higher tiers if you want a new route, but keep a character that already works. Missing talents or equipment can change which choice suits you.

S: Hunter, Paladin — first options to investigate when you can support their sustain or shield plan. A: Warrior, Mage, Warlock, Shaman — alternatives with clear routes to compare against your current investment. B: Druid, Priest, Rogue — we would check their setup and playstyle more closely before recommending a switch. These are subjective priorities, with no order within a tier. B does not mean low damage or inability to clear.

Nine-class quick referenceTry this routeCheck firstIf you get stuck
S · Hunter →Aimed Shot with sustainCheck the route’s talent requirements and available lifesteal / cooldown effects; exact items are unconfirmed.A player’s sustain-first order is not universal; kill resets need kills.
S · Paladin →Protection with shield supportThe example combines shields, damage reduction and healing equipment; full gear is unknown.Survival does not prove enough boss damage. Shields alone are not a complete build.
A · Warrior →Compare Arms if already invested; keep a working Fury routeThe Arms example spends 51 points (36/13/2); full gear is unknown.Do not copy its damage priorities without recovery and room to move.
A · Mage →Test Fire if the spells and talents are availableThe reviewed opening is v0.85.0, with existing health and regeneration bonuses.Keep useful utility and defense; old-version performance is not a current benchmark.
A · Warlock →Compare Soul Fire with Curse of Agony on your existing characterFull permanent gear and talents in the example are unknown.Do not make Luck mandatory from the title; compare direct damage with kill-dependent effects.
A · Shaman →Compare a supported totem routeThe totem example starts with 20/0/31 talents (51 total); complete gear is unknown.Check coverage; multiple spells contribute and wave damage is not lone-boss damage.
B · Druid →Compare Starfire when matching equipment effects are availableThe showcase is level 99 with repeat-cast and Starfire-specific equipment. Not a fresh-save template; item procs, extra targets and repeat chances need separate checks.
B · Priest →Compare Mind Flay and Lightwell separatelyEP 4 starts with 25/51 points; EP 5 shows different enemy settings. The two runs do not establish which route is stronger. Healing cannot replace missing damage.
B · Rogue →Build around available Sinister Strike attacksThe observed rank-2 attack reaches 7 yards; full equipment and talents are unknown.Check actual reach and survival; the mixed-enemy boss fight is not a single-target benchmark.

Starting a new character

For a new save, start with skills you can actually use. None of these videos establishes the best zero-talent class under matched conditions. Do not plan around a 51-point setup, a level-99 showcase or unowned equipment. Choose a playstyle you can control, then record what stops the run.

Improving an existing save

Change one thing at a time. Dying early: compare positioning, recovery and defense. Clearing waves but stalling on bosses: inspect damage that does not require kills or extra enemies. Staying alive but falling behind: compare damage before adding more healing. These are testing suggestions, not guaranteed fixes.

What the evidence can establish

We place Hunter and Paladin first because their documented sustain plans give a clear problem to work on, not because fresh-save superiority was demonstrated. Druid’s late-run gear, the non-comparable Priest runs and Rogue’s reach/positioning demands make those recommendations more conditional in our reading of the sources. Uncertainty about a class is not evidence that it is weak. We will revisit placements as sources, versions and player feedback improve.

Menu reference: v0.97.0, inspected 18 October 2026. Player cases were reviewed on 20 October; most exact patches, full equipment and difficulties remain unconfirmed. The Mage opening shows v0.85.0. Different talents, equipment, maps and settings prevent a controlled class comparison. Historical rankings are references, not votes to average.
